About CodeWeekend
CodeWeekend is a hands-on learning community helping students build real skills in software development, step by step, with support, structure, and confidence. We focus on practical outcomes: foundations, projects, mentorship, and a learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions and grow.
Role Overview
We’re hiring an instructor to teach the CodeWeekend Bootcamp in a live virtual setting. We’re looking for someone who is experienced, energetic, and compassionate—someone who genuinely loves teaching and can keep students engaged through clear explanations, strong communication, and great pacing.
You’ll teach and mentor students across:
- Web foundations (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Frontend development (modern UI practices)
- Software development foundations (Git/GitHub, debugging, problem solving, algorithms and data structures, clean code)
- AI foundations (how AI works, responsible use, practical tools, basic workflows)
- Project execution (helping students build portfolio-ready work)
What You’ll Do
- Deliver live online classes with strong engagement and clarity (Zoom/Google Meet style)
- Lead students through exercises, labs, and mini-projects
- Provide code reviews, feedback, and guidance to help students improve fast
- Run office hours / Q&A sessions and support students who fall behind
- Use student-friendly teaching methods (examples, repetition, checkpoints, step-by-step scaffolding)
- Maintain a supportive, inclusive classroom culture (kindness + accountability)
- Collaborate with CodeWeekend to improve lessons, slides, assignments, and pacing
- Record sessions and help create engaging content (short clips, demos, mini-lessons) suitable for sharing online
- Help improve learning materials for future cohorts (reusable, high-quality)
Must-Have Qualifications
- Proven experience teaching or mentoring in a virtual setting (bootcamp, tutoring, training, workshops)
- Strong fundamentals in:
- HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- Frontend basics (responsive UI, APIs, DOM, basic architecture)
- Git/GitHub workflow
- Debugging and explaining concepts clearly
- Comfortable speaking on camera with good energy, pacing, and clarity
- Able to break down difficult topics in beginner-friendly ways
- Comfortable with session recording and being featured in educational content
- Reliable, organized, and responsive (students depend on consistency)
- Advanced English level skills
Nice-to-Have
- Experience teaching beginners or career-switchers
- Familiarity with any of: React, TypeScript, Node.js (even at a basic level)
- AI tool literacy (prompting workflows, basic LLM concepts, responsible usage)
- Experience building curriculum, exercises, or assessments
- Comfortable managing a community space (Discord/Slack) and motivating learners
What Success Looks Like
- Students feel supported, motivated, and confident asking questions
- Classes are engaging (not just lectures) and outcomes are project-driven
- Learners finish with strong foundations + a portfolio direction
- Recorded content is clear, valuable, and shareable
What We Offer
- A mission-driven teaching environment and supportive team
- Flexible remote instruction structure (cohort-based)
- Opportunity to build a teaching/content portfolio publicly
- Potential for ongoing cohorts and expanded instructor responsibilities
How to Apply
Please share (when applying):
- A short intro about your teaching experience
- Your technical background (projects/GitHub/portfolio/LinkedIn)
- A 1–3 minute video (optional but strongly preferred) teaching a simple concept (e.g., “What is the DOM?” or “How does Git commit work?”)
- Your availability and expected rate
