Khyber Publishing is the first and only dedicated academic books provider in Afghanistan. it supples universities, educators and learners across the country, working with local and international partners to bring trusted scholarly content to the Afghan market.

Khyber is looking for a Graphic Designer & Marketing Associate to shape how our books look, and make sure they reach the people who need them.

Full-time, on-site in Kabul.

What you'll do

1. Design book covers, promotional materials, social media graphics and website visuals
2. Create layouts and typography treatments for print and digital
3. Support logo and identity development for Khyber Publishing initiatives
4. Keep our brand consistent across every campaign
5. Prepare and check files for production
6. Coordinate marketing content aimed at academic audiences, and track how campaigns perform
7. Work closely with our editorial and sales teams
8. Maintain an organised library of design assets

What we're looking for

1. Strong graphic design skills and a portfolio of clear, professional work
2. Real command of typography, layout, font selection and readability for both academic and marketing content
3. Hands-on experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign; Canva is a plus
4. An understanding of basic marketing principles, ideally in education or publishing
5. Attention to detail, good time management, and the ability to run several projects at once
6. Strong communication skills and a collaborative way of working
7. Education in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing or a related field — or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have

1. Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content formats
2. A genuine interest in academic publishing, education or books
